AXA IM launches a global Philanthropy programme, bringing together all global and local charitable endeavours focused on “Empowering Sustainable Futures”

  • This programme encompasses all AXA Investment Managers’ (AXA IM) initiatives related to philanthropy and community outreach across geographies within a single connecting thematic of “Empowering Sustainable Futures”.
  • It brings together AXA IM’s impact funding initiatives, corporate donations and academic research support with a volunteering offering in Europe, US and Asia Pacific.
  • This philanthropy programme demonstrates AXA IM’s commitment to impactful support towards local communities and the environment with a target funding of €1.8M in 2025, up from €1.6M in 2024.

The Philanthropy programme aims to focus on empowering sustainable futures for all

AXA IM’s Philanthropy programme is dedicated to advancing the vision of “Empowering Sustainable Futures" through a three-fold approach:

  • Climate resilience and inclusion for communities: we engage with charities that support those communities most negatively affected by climate change, ensuring fair access to resources and opportunities. Our initiatives encompass projects focused on housing, healthcare, access to renewable energy and poverty alleviation.
  • Education for future generations: we support charities that provide the next generation with the knowledge and skills needed to address future challenges.
  • Protecting Biodiversity: we engage with charities that are taking action to address biodiversity loss.

The Philanthropy Programme brings together philanthropic funding sources, scientific research funding and volunteering efforts across all countries under one umbrella programme

  • AXA IM’s business units are central to the philanthropy programme. We will continue to dedicate 5% of the management fees from selected impact strategies across listed and private markets, to support charities and projects connected to our theme, in critical areas such as healthcare, climate change, and biodiversity.
  • Local operating companies will play a key role in onboarding flagship charities around the “Empowering Sustainable Futures” theme, to reinforce local resonance. Local teams will endorse charities for selection by the AXA IM Philanthropy Committee, following a rigorous selection process.
  • AXA IM will position employees at the heart of this programme, through internal engagement and volunteering where possible.
  • The Programme continues supporting academic research. This includes the funding of top-tier academic institutions, researchers, and programmes such as the Chair on Sustainable Finance and Leadership at ESSEC and the AXA Research Lab on Climate Change: Politics, Philosophy and Economics with LUISS University.

The AXA IM Research Award, now in its fourth consecutive year, also rewards the impactful track record of scientists in the field of sustainability. These partnerships enable AXA IM to contribute to the education of future leaders and empower the next generation.

The Philanthropy programme is supervised by a dedicated Committee

AXA IM has established a new Philanthropy Committee to oversee and make decisions in regard to its charitable commitments. The Committee ensures the development of the programme and the alignment and integration of AXA IM’s philanthropic efforts across the organisation, while maintaining a strong connection to its impact investing initiatives. It serves as the final decision-making body for selecting charitable partnerships, deploying funds and designing the roadmap of activities and employee engagement opportunities.

The committee is chaired by Marie Bogataj, Global Head of Communications, CSR and ESG Development and includes representatives from the Management Board, namely Isabelle Scemama, Global Head of AXA IM Alts and Marion Le Morhedec, Global Head of Fixed Income.

On the launch of this new Philanthropy programme, Marie Bogataj, Global Head of Communications, CSR and ESG Development said: “We have committed to playing a role in society – as a business, as an employer and as an investor. It is important to take a further step in terms of impact, and transparency by bringing together our full array of philanthropic efforts under a single roof and to position our approach around a theme that is aligned with our activities – “Empowering Sustainable Futures”.
